Massimo Grassi, Divisional Managing Director

Having held senior level management positions for over 20 years, Massimo Grassi joined IMI Precision Engineering as Managing Director in 2015. With degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Fluid Dynamics from the Università degli Studi di Firenze,
Massimo has extensive experience in managing global organisations in diversified industrial segments.
Prior to joining IMI Precision Engineering, Massimo served as Global President of Stanley Black & Decker’s Industrial and Automotive Repair business with sales of $1.4bn and 8000 employees across over 30 counties. Massimo also was President EMEA for Pentair Water.

Leading IMI Precision Engineering through a period of transformation, Massimo has overseen the development of a number of major new products and services dedicated to improving efficiency and productivity across customers’ machines and assets. He has also driven the reorganisation of the division into a vertical structure in the Americas and Europe, putting the customer at the centre of operational, marketing and product development efforts. As part of a wider strategy to enhance customer experience, Massimo has recently overseen the creation and launch of IMI Norgren’s Express App which is revolutionising the way customers access products and technical information.

Passionate about the excellent products and services IMI Precision Engineering provides its customers, Massimo has been crucial in shaping the Man’s Most Marvellous Machines campaign and communicating it across the wider organisation.

Peter Varwijk, European Regional Managing Director
Peter Varwijk is responsible for the entire European business for IMI Precision Engineering. He has worked for the organisation for 15 years and holds a Master’s degree (Dipl. –Ing) in Mechanical Engineering. Peter has held previous senior positions with Procter & Gamble and EDEKA.

With responsibility for the profit and loss of the European business, he leads the development and implementation of the European strategy. This includes best-in-class European operations through implementing lean principles, commercial activities that deliver sustainable growth and the development of products and services that help ‘move man`s most marvellous machines’.

Peter is passionate about the launch of IMI Precision Engineering’s new products and services, and will play a crucial role in leading this in the coming months.

Torsten Norff, Site Leader, Alpen
Working at IMI Precision Engineering for over 20 years, Torsten began his career with the organisation as an apprentice while studying mechanical engineering. Initially specialising in industrial engineering, in recent years Torsten has been focused on developing the logistics process at the European Distribution Centre.

As Site Leader of IMI Precision Engineering’s Alpen facility, Torsten oversees day-to-day operations and manufacturing processes at the site. He is also responsible for driving the site’s lean transformation journey and ensuring continuous operational improvement by working with the team to identify areas for development.

His experience with the firm over the years and understanding of the industry means he is perfectly positioned to talk through IMI Precision Engineering’s product portfolio and the organisation’s operational processes.

Dr. Maik Fiedler, Engineering Director, Alpen
Based in IMI Precision Engineering’s Alpen facility, Maik has been Engineering Director for over five years where he is responsible for new product development and the product and technology roadmap. Maik holds a Master’s degree (Dipl.-Ing) in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive) and a Doctorate (Dr.-Ing) in Pneumatics, Hydraulics and Mechatronic Systems.

Specialising in the simulation and optimisation of mechatronic systems consisting of fluidic (pneumatic and hydraulic), magnetic and control electronics, Maik has been integral in developing IMI Precision Engineering’s new product ranges and championing its lean journey.

Bernward Sprünken, Team Leader of Business Development Group, Alpen
A trained Mechanical Engineer, Bernward heads up the Business Development Group at IMI Precision Engineering’s Alpen facility. With over 25 years experience, Bernward has been in a variety of roles centred on working with IMI Precision Engineering’s customers to develop its products and solutions to customers technical enquiries. Bernward studied at Fachhochschule Bochum and holds a Diplom Ingenieur.

Bernward’s technical ability and expertise sees him work alongside customers to identify the correct compressed air products for their specific applications.This knowledge has seen him play an integral role in developing IMI Precision Engineering’s new air filtration system in line with customer needs and requirements.

Dietmar Grün, Business Development Manager Actuator, Alpen
With over 28 years’ of experience of actuator products, Dietmar brings a depth of knowledge to his role within the Business Development Group at IMI Precision Engineering’s Alpen facility. As a trained technician, Dietmar has held roles within product development and management.

Dietmar’s technical ability and expertise sees him work alongside customers to identify the correct actuator products for their specific applications. This knowledge has seen him play an integral role in the development of IMI Precision Engineering’s new pneumatic cylinders, bringing in line with customer needs and requirements.

Mark Stevens, Marketing Director at IMI Precision Engineering
Mark Stevens has worked for IMI Precision Engineering for more than 25 years, with experience in a wide spectrum of marketing roles. His responsibilities include strategic marketing, pricing, product management, marketing communications, and the customer experience.

Mark has directed the development and launch of the ‘We Help Move Man’s Most Marvellous Machines’ campaign and is currently leading the project to deliver IMI Precision Engineering’s exhibition stand at the Hannover Messe 2017.
Mark holds a Bachelor of Commerce honours degree from the University of Birmingham in the UK.
