E+E Elektronik has launched the HTS401 as a successor to the EE212 and EE210 sensor families, addressing the increasing demands placed on climate measurement in industrial processes. Applications such as high-humidity environments, chemically intensive cleaning regimes, and large temperature fluctuations require sensors that maintain accuracy while minimizing downtime and service effort.
Robust protection for harsh operating conditions
To ensure stable operation under severe ambient stress, the HTS401 combines E+E’s proprietary sensor coating with Condensation Guard technology. This heated sensing unit actively prevents dew formation by automatically raising the sensor temperature when conditions indicate a risk of condensation. As a result, moisture does not accumulate on the sensing element, and output signals remain stable even in high-humidity environments.
In addition, the Automatic ReCovery function (ARC) protects the sensing element against harmful chemical influences. This active protection reduces corrosion-related failures and measurement drift, extending service life and lowering maintenance requirements, particularly in applications involving routine automated cleaning or sterilisation.
Maintenance without process interruption
A key design focus of the HTS401 is minimizing downtime. With integrated rapidX technology, the sensor module can be replaced tool-free in the field in approximately 10 minutes, including filter replacement and access preparation. Each replacement module is factory pre-calibrated and supplied with a digital inspection certificate in accordance with DIN EN 10204-3.1, eliminating the need for on-site calibration.
This modular maintenance concept allows operators to maintain measurement accuracy without interrupting ongoing processes.
Measurement performance and derived parameters
The HTS401 delivers measurement accuracy of up to ±0.95 % RH and ±0.1 °C across an operating range from −40 °C to +80 °C. In addition to relative humidity and temperature, the device calculates derived parameters directly on board, including dew point, mixing ratio, and enthalpy. This reduces system complexity and supports more stable and energy-efficient climate control.
Integration flexibility and variants
Designed for straightforward system integration, the HTS401 supports both digital and analogue interfaces and can be configured using E+E’s PCS10 software. This enables rapid deployment in existing automation, HVAC, and building management systems.
The platform is available in wall-mount and duct versions, as well as remote-probe variants. An optional display allows simultaneous visualization of multiple measured variables, supporting local monitoring and diagnostics.
Target applications
The HTS401 is intended for a wide range of demanding applications, including high-end HVAC installations such as data centres, swimming halls, and outdoor systems; agricultural environments such as greenhouses, livestock facilities, and storage areas; pharmaceutical cleanrooms; and food and beverage processes including meat and cheese maturation.
By combining robust sensor protection, modular maintenance, and high measurement accuracy, the HTS401 supports reliable process control, improved energy efficiency, and predictable service planning in challenging industrial environments.
