ABB launches ultra-accurate water quality analyzer and advanced multi-input transmitter

ABB announced the launch of two major innovations for continuous water analysis (CWA): the AeroStar™ family of dissolved oxygen sensors and the AWT424 transmitter. Together, these technologies set a new benchmark for precision, reliability, operational efficiency, and digital connectivity in water monitoring. The combined offering delivers a fully integrated, digital solution that helps industrial users operate more efficiently, sustainably, and safely.

Ultra-precise water quality measurement with AeroStar™
Traditional electrochemical sensors often require frequent replacement, calibration, and maintenance. In contrast, the new AeroStar sensors provide stable, ultra-accurate dissolved oxygen measurement with minimal upkeep—helping operators reduce unplanned downtime and overall cost.

Engineered for demanding applications in power generation, process steam systems, semiconductors, and food & beverage operations—where even trace oxygen levels can lead to corrosion or impact product quality—the AeroStar ULTRA measures as low as 4 parts per billion (ppb), while the AeroStar ULTRA TRACE achieves resolution below 1 ppb.

Featuring an advanced luminescence quenching optical design, AeroStar delivers high stability, fast response times, and extended sensor cap life of up to two years—cutting maintenance requirements by as much as 70% compared to traditional electrochemical devices.

The sensors connect seamlessly via ABB’s EZLink™ digital platform to the new AWT424 transmitter, with predictive maintenance insights available through the EZLink Connect App. Constructed in stainless steel with a hygienic surface finish, AeroStar is suitable even for sensitive food and beverage environments.

Simplifying water measurement with AWT424
The next-generation AWT424 transmitter is the core of ABB’s continuous water analysis platform. Designed to simplify and standardize water measurement, it enables operators to connect and manage up to four sensors simultaneously—providing a unified view of key water quality parameters such as pH/ORP, conductivity, turbidity, chlorine, and dissolved oxygen.

With its modular design, the AWT424 allows quick addition or replacement of sensors and communication modules, reducing spare part requirements and streamlining operations. A full-color TFT display and Bluetooth™ connectivity make real-time data visible through ABB’s EZLink Connect App, enabling remote access, configuration, and support.

The AWT424 also introduces MODBUS TCP communication, further simplifying integration into plant control systems. By enhancing connectivity, reducing maintenance, and improving uptime, the transmitter helps safeguard critical assets across industrial facilities.
