Enrique Megía, representative of AENOR, awards the IRIS certificate to Daniel Núñez Lumbreras, Factory Manager at MAGHISPAN With this recognition, we add our fourth certification to those already obtained ISO 9001 (quality management), ISO 14001 (environmental management) and ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety). IRIS certification is today the global quality standard in the railway sector. Launched in 2005 by the UNIFE association (Association of European Railway Industries) and the main train manufacturers, this standard reinforces ISO 9001 with specific requirements for railroads: project management, reliability and safety (RAMS), obsolescence control or life cycle costs (LCC). From 2023, it will be integrated under ISO 22163:2023, extending its scope to SMEs and specialized suppliers. Official scope of Maghispan’s IRIS certificate After successfully passing a joint AENOR audit in May 2025, Maghispan officially obtained its IRIS certification on August 2, 2025. The certificate covers the following activities: Production and provision of services Control of processes, products and services provided externally Project management Requirements for products and services In addition, the certificate places us in the Rolling Stock business category, with Electrical product scope, specifically for the production of electrical contacts for electrical equipment in the railway sector. This recognition accredits that our design, manufacturing and management processes comply with the most demanding standards of the international railway industry. A certificate of international prestige In Europe more than 770 companies and, in Spain, around 40 companies have this certification, among them major references such as Talgo or Siemens Rail. Now, Maghispan joins this select group and appears in the UNIFE IRIS certified suppliers database, which gives us a reinforced international visibility. Why is IRIS important? Obtaining IRIS certification is much more than just complying with an audit. It involves adopting an approach of continuous improvement and organizational maturity, which translates into concrete benefits for customers and rail operators: Increased quality and reliability: IRIS requires specific controls such as first article inspection (FAI), safety testing or obsolescence plans. This ensures safer and more reliable products. International visibility: being a certified supplier in the UNIFE network opens the door to global contracts and new business opportunities. Direct impact on our products Electrical contacts and flexible copper braids manufactured by Maghispan are critical components in electric traction railway applications, where they must withstand vibrations, dynamic loads and demanding service conditions. With IRIS certification, now officially endorsed in the Rolling Stock – Electrical category, we offer our customers an additional guarantee of quality, safety and total traceability in each manufactured part. Maghispan: commitment to excellence Obtaining IRIS certification decisively reinforces Maghispan’s strategy: to offer reliable, innovative and competitive products for the railway market both nationally and internationally. Our customers now have the added assurance of a supplier accredited by AENOR, capable of meeting the most demanding quality standards in the railway sector and successfully tackling the technological and regulatory challenges of an increasingly competitive environment. In short, this achievement is not only recognition of our ongoing efforts, but also a firm promise to continue improving, innovating and adding value to every project we undertake. With IRIS, Maghispan consolidates and expands its role as a trusted partner in the global railway industry, strengthening its presence in new markets and guaranteeing future solutions that contribute to the sustainable development of rail transport.
