Bundled IIoT and automation expertise
Kontron, a leading global provider of IoT/Embedded Computer Technology (ECT), offers industrial software for cross-industry automation solutions through its subsidiary Kontron AIS GmbH. Effective September 1, 2022, Kontron AIS GmbH took over LUCOM GmbH, thereby strengthening its portfolio as an IIoT solution provider for industrial software and industrial automation.
On September 1st, 2022, the exceet Group SCA officially confirmed the sale of LUCOM GmbH to Kontron AIS GmbH, a subsidiary of Kontron AG. The agreed purchase price is 5 million euros and includes 100% of the shares and all 22 employees of the company with its headquarters in Fürth.
For Kontron AIS, the takeover of LUCOM GmbH is an important strategic step as part of the portfolio expansion and positioning towards an all-in-one IIoT solution provider for industrial software and industrial automation. Michael Jacob, Managing Director of Kontron AIS (right in the picture): "We are pleased to be able to expand our footprint in the field of digitization of tomorrow's smart factories with LUCOM. The product and technology portfolio fits perfectly into our strategic orientation; among other things, to be able to open up new industries and to strengthen synergies with the existing hardware components from Kontron.
Linking LUCOM's hardware and software solutions with our know-how in industrial software will have a significant impact, in order to be able to support the customers of both companies even better in the future with their challenges related to Industry 4.0 and digitization. Knowing that we have the highly qualified team from LUCOM behind us makes us look forward to future cooperation on an equal footing with joy and confidence.”
LUCOM GmbH has been dealing with industrial automation technology for 31 years and specializes in mobile data communication. Jens Hilgner, Managing Director of LUCOM GmbH (left in the picture): "With the takeover by Kontron AIS, we have gained a powerful and broad-based partner on the industrial market who will support LUCOM on its further growth path. Kontron, in turn, benefits from our many years of industry know-how and our extensive expertise, especially in the areas of connectivity and VPN services. In this way, potential can be used together and expanded for the future. What is particularly important to me: Our existing customer and supplier relationships will be preserved and all LUCOM employees will be guaranteed a secure perspective.”
