NORGREN LAUNCHES NEW BLOWING BLOCK FOR PET MARKET

Norgren, an international market leader in pneumatic motion and fluid control technology, is expanding its offer for the PET bottle manufacturing sector, with a brand new blowing block for linear stretch blow moulding machines.

NORGREN LAUNCHES NEW BLOWING BLOCK FOR PET MARKET
Predominantly targeting cost-competitive manufacturers, the new blowing block is suitable for the production of PET bottles of up to two litres, depending on cycle time, and offers a convenient and simple alternative to direct ported valves.

Based on extensive knowledge and experience gained from producing premium products for rotary machine builders in the PET sector, Norgren’s compact-designed blowing block boasts a 10 million cycle life.

Made from anodised aluminium, the blowing block is suitable for use with medium purity air (class 3.4.3 under ISO 8573-1:2010 standards) and utilises solenoid actuated poppet valves to control the pre-blowing, blowing and pilot air supply. The block can achieve operating pressures of up to 40 bar and flow rates of up to 3.0 m³/h when in the blowing phase, and has a response time of 8-10ms to make the blow moulding process quicker, increasing production rates.

Able to function in ambient temperatures of up to 50°C and withstanding fluid temperatures of up to 30°C, Norgren’s latest blowing block model has a range of accessories including a connector (which gives the block IP65 rating), a manifold for easy installation and a silencer for quieter operation.

An optional air recovery valve is also available, which can recover up to 45 per cent of compressed air, depending on the application.

Dave Whelan, Global Sector Head – Food & Beverage for Norgren, said: “We have drawn on our proven experience and success in producing technology for the PET sector to create this new addition to our blowing block portfolio, for applications where cost-competitiveness is of paramount importance. Without compromising on quality or performance, we have been able to produce a blowing block which is more affordable, allowing us to deliver Engineering Advantage to a broader spectrum of customers.”
