Jungheinrich donates forklift truck to Hamburger Tafel
Electric pedestrian pallet truck type EJC 220 for central storage of the Tafel.
- Food for over 30,000 people in need per week
- Jungheinrich has supported the Tafel for many years
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Jungheinrich AG shareholders' meeting could not be held in person this year. As a result, the traditional meal for shareholders following the Annual General Meeting was cancelled. Jungheinrich has now donated the saved amount of money to Hamburger Tafel in the form of a forklift truck. As soon as the truck arrived at the Tafel's central warehouse in Hamburg-Tonndorf, it immediately started its service.
"Hamburger Tafel is an extraordinary institution that people rely on every day. We want to support the important work of the dedicated employees and helpers in these challenging times by donating a forklift truck," explains Dr. Lars Brzoska, Chairman of the Board of Management of Jungheinrich AG. Jungheinrich AG has been supporting Hamburger Tafel for many years. Several Jungheinrich trucks are in operation in the Tafel warehouse. The new EJC 220 electric pedestrian pallet truck can lift loads weighing up to 2 tons to a lifting height of 4.8 metres. Julia Bauer, member of the Board of Hamburger Tafel e.V. says: "A great and generous idea of Jungheinrich to use the money saved in this way. We are very grateful for the forklift donation! Especially because more and more people have been coming to the distribution points over the past few months, which naturally means that the work in the warehouse is also growing.”
Hamburger Tafel supports people in need with food that is no longer intended for sale. The association collects these food items and supplies social institutions that operate food distribution points. In this way, 30,000 people in need are supplied with food every week. Hamburger Tafel has a warehouse, including refrigeration and freezer facilities, in which the forklift truck donated by Jungheinrich is used.
