Weidmüller's "PRO-H" switch-mode power supplies

New family of EX approved power supply units designed to meet the needs of the processing industry and demanding automation technology solutions. Single-phase, slimline switch-mode power supplies save space when populating electrical cabinets. A truly international solution thanks to wide-range input and the corresponding approvals.

Weidmüller's PRO-H switch-mode power supplies
With its "PRO-H“ (Power-Reliable-Optimized- for Hazardous areas) Weidmüller is offering a new, high-performance family of power supplies with ATEX and Class I Div. 2 approvals for deployment in hazardous areas and high-end mechanical engineering applications. High power reserves, a wide operating temperature range of -25 °C to +70 °C and high MTBF values (Mean Time Between Failures) of up to 1.8 million hours ensure these switch-mode power supplies are ideally suited for use in the processing sector, in power engineering as well as the demanding machine building sector. Weidmüller offers a variety of control voltage solutions: 12 V, 24 V 36 V and 48 V. And it is also possible to connect the units in parallel to increase power output. In addition, an optional redundancy unit facilitates a two-channel set-up with 100% balanced load sharing (active current sharing), a solution that increases both operational reliability and the service life of the system. The "remote On/Off" function allows the user to switch the units on and off from outside the electrical cabinet. Users are able to check the output status via the potential-free relay contact or the transistor output as desired. For convenience the units are equipped with pluggable connection terminals to facilitate simple testing. Extremely compact by design "PRO-H" power supplies are housed in a robust metal housing. Customized solutions facilitate utilizing the modules in different one-, two- and three-phase systems.

In a manner of speaking power supplies are the heart of each and every electrical cabinet. And as essential components of the power supply they belong in every automation system. Their quality is a decisive factor in the reliable operation of the connected components, which is why making the right choice requires extreme care. For years Weidmüller's power supply modules have proven their worth reliably providing power to electrical and electronic modules in mechanical and systems engineering solutions. With the introduction of its "PRO-H" family of single-phase, switch-mode power supplies Weidmüller now offers a complete range of power supplies with EX approval for use in the processing industry and high-performance automation engineering (ATEX approval and Class 1 / Division 2 for the US market). Weidmüller offers a variety of control voltages (12 V, 24 V, 36 V and 48 V). Single-phase versions are available with 6 A, 12 A (12 VDC output voltage), 3.8 A, 7.5 A, 15 A, 25 A (24 VDC output voltage), 16.5 A (36 VDC output voltage) and 4 A, 7.5 A, 12.5 A (48 VDC output voltage). With automatic input voltage selection from 88 - 132 V/ 187 - 264 VAC "PRO-H" switch-mode power supplies are suitable for worldwide deployment. A green LED indicates the unit is ready for operations. Each unit output is short-circuit proof by design. Depending on the unit users are able to set the output voltage from 12 VDC in the 12...14 VDC range as well as 24 VDC in the 24...28 VDC range and 48 VDC in the 48...56 VDC range via a front-side potentiometer.

"PRO-H switch-mode power supplies are extremely slim and robust by design and eminently suitable for use industrial environments. Rated to IP20 the space saving "PRO-H" units can be mounted flush side-by-side on TS 35 mounting rails. A distinguishing feature of "PRO-H" switch-mode power supplies is high MTBF values (Mean Time Between Failures) of more than 1 800 000 hours to IEC 1709 (SN29500), a fact that underlines the particularly high quality and reliability of Weidmüller power supplies.

To increase output power it is also possible to connect "PRO-H" switch-mode power supplies in parallel – without a diode module. In addition, an optional redundancy module facilitates a two-channel set-up with 100% balanced load sharing (active current sharing). That contributes to increasing operational reliability and extends the service life of the system at the same time. Super-boost functionality provides additional power reserves (up to 1000 percent for 10 ms, up to 30 °C). "Remote On/Off" enables users to turn the units on and off from outside the electrical cabinet. Users are able to check the output status via the potential-free relay contact or the transistor output as desired. Pluggable connection terminals ensure simple replacement, testing and disconnection of the electrical connection.

The entire "PRO-H" family boasts an operating temperature range of -25…+70 °C (derating from 40 °C), a compelling characteristic enabling deployment in the widest possible range of environments. Problems in the mains environment are mastered by a high mains-failure bridging time. The "PRO-H" family bridges mains failures > 20 ms at 115 VAC / 230 VAC. All things considered, high levels of energy efficiency as well as an attractive price-performance ratio provide compelling arguments in favour of Weidmüller's nine different switch-mode power supplies and two redundancy modules. Thanks to extensive approvals such as CE, EN 60950, EN 50178, cURus to UL 60950, cULus to UL 508, ATEX and Class 1 Div. 2 "PRO-H" switch-mode power supplies are suitable for use in applications all over the world.
