Micro-Epsilon has launched version 3.1 of its 3DInspect software solution, designed for the evaluation and configuration of 3D sensors. This technical update aims to structure the integration of measurement equipment and optimize geometric data processing within industrial inspection environments.

Hardware Compatibility and Sensor Integration
The software provides support for an extensive range of hardware solutions, including reflectCONTROL RCS, surfaceCONTROL 3D, and scanCONTROL 30xx systems. Version 3.1 now integrates native support for scanCONTROL 8x00 SMART laser scanners in both 2D and 3D modes, including a dedicated configuration assistant. Furthermore, the software architecture is compatible with the 3D Profile Unit via the standardized GenICam and GigE Vision interface.

Data Processing and Measurement Programs
For metrology applications, the system incorporates new 3D measurement algorithms, enabling the evaluation of structural parameters such as flatness, sphericity, and hole extraction. Two-dimensional processing is reinforced by 2D straightness analysis functions. The software infrastructure executes complex operations such as point cloud generation and merging, downsampling, as well as image filtering and masking. For reflectCONTROL and surfaceCONTROL sensors, a new data format enables the evaluation of amplitude, curvature, and base intensity images.

Operational Workflow Optimization
The processing architecture has been revised to accelerate the execution of industrial measurement programs sequentially. Operational modifications include the extension of observation mode, simultaneous automatic recording of multiple data formats per measurement, and the capability to prematurely interrupt ongoing 3D acquisitions. The restructuring of preprocessing programs and the optimization of 2D and 3D graphical displays ensure smoother management of the entire inspection workflow.
