ADNOC, XRG and Masdar Deepen Germany Partnerships Across Energy and Technology

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), together with XRG and Masdar, established bilateral industrial cooperation with German industrial partners to deploy integrated energy supply chains, chemical production facilities, and digital infrastructure across European utility and manufacturing sectors.

Industrial Challenges and Partnership Roles
European manufacturing and power networks require resilient fuel diversification, lower emissions intensity, and secure feedstocks. Addressing these operational demands at industrial scale requires cross-border capital, primary resource supply, and specialized technological infrastructure.

Under this cooperative framework, ADNOC and XRG contribute feedstock logistics, natural gas, and liquefied natural gas (LNG) export capacities. Masdar provides utility-scale renewable power development. German industrial partners provide process engineering, chemical manufacturing expertise, grid integration, and equipment architecture.

Technical Value Chains and Implementation
ADNOC and RWE Supply & Trading advanced terms for long-term LNG supply agreements delivering fuel from production assets in Ruwais, Das, Mozambique, Argentina, and the Rio Grande into European and Asian distribution systems, with operations targeted for early 2030. ADNOC and Securing Energy for Europe (SEFE) established joint evaluation workflows covering pipeline logistics, regasification interfaces, and delivery optimization.

In basic chemical synthesis, TA'ZIZ and Covestro progressed engineering feasibility studies for a world-scale methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) value chain situated at Ruwais, planning final investment evaluation ahead of scheduled 2030 commissioning. Complementing this, Covestro, Fertiglobe, and MB Energy initiated technical planning to develop import logistics for low-carbon ammonia into German industrial processing sites.

Power Generation and Industrial Systems
Masdar and RWE structured a framework for joint auction participation targeting offshore wind installations in German waters. Concurrently, Masdar and Luxcara entered collaborative evaluation to co-develop utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) and offshore wind assets across European electrical grids.

For industrial operations, ADNOC partnered with Bosch Middle East, Siemens Energy, and Siemens Industrial. The partners will deploy industrial automation architectures, advanced process technology, and artificial intelligence models across processing equipment and pipeline networks to improve process stability, fault detection, and mechanical reliability.

Strategic Rationale
His Excellency Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, ADNOC Managing Director and Group CEO, Executive Chairman of XRG, and Chairman of Masdar, stated: "The UAE and Germany are building on decades of trusted partnership to advance economic growth and shared prosperity for the long-term. The additional €40 billon of intended long-term investments announced this week, together with the agreements ADNOC, XRG and Masdar signed today with our German partners, build on our investments across Germany’s energy and industrial landscape and mark another step forward in greater cooperation that will create new opportunities for both countries."

Operational Impact
The initiatives target the deployment of over €5 billion in combined capital. They expand upon existing infrastructure assets, including 1.6 million tonnes per annum of contracted German LNG delivery and Masdar's operational Baltic Eagle offshore wind farm, reinforcing feedstock continuity and power grid stability.
