ABB acquires Premium Power to strengthen European advisory capabilities

ABB has entered into an agreement to acquire Premium Power, an Ireland-based electrical engineering consultancy specializing in power system studies, grid compliance and electrical risk management. The transaction, expected to close in the first quarter of 2026, reinforces ABB’s strategy to expand its advisory capabilities within the Electrification Service division. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Founded in 2001 and headquartered near Dublin, Premium Power employs more than 40 electrical engineers and delivers services including grid connection studies, dynamic modelling, arc flash analysis, power quality audits and electrical safety assessments. Its customer base spans mission-critical industries such as data centers, pharmaceutical manufacturing and advanced industrial facilities where uptime, compliance and system resilience are essential.
The acquisition strengthens ABB’s ABB Navigate advisory portfolio by embedding system-level expertise in power system modelling, grid integration and electrical risk assessment. As electrification accelerates and infrastructures become more complex due to digitalization and renewable integration, customers increasingly require advanced analysis to assess system constraints, manage compliance and ensure long-term operational reliability.
By integrating Premium Power’s consultancy expertise, ABB will enhance its ability to support customers from grid connection through on-site infrastructure design, enabling earlier risk identification and more informed investment planning. The move aligns with ABB’s strategy of targeted, bolt-on acquisitions that deepen technical capabilities and deliver scalable value across Europe.
