When the automation industry gathers at the SPS fair in Nuremberg from 25 November to 27 November 2025, Nabtesco will be in the middle of the action: with drive and gear solutions that marry progress and efficiency with technological excellence – and give their users a decisive edge over their competition. The highlight of their trade show presentation is the unveiling of a new short gearbox.
Nabtesco is a leading international precision gear specialist, boasting more than 35 years of experience in robotics & automation. Their gear and drive solutions deliver the utmost in performance, efficiency, reliability, and optimal availability, turning them into the key to competitive manufacturing processes. At the SPS 2025 in Nuremberg, the company (Hall 3A, Stand 426) will present their latest innovations and impressively demonstrate the possibilities of modern precision gears.
Première: New short gears
One outstanding highlight is the début of short gear technology. This strain wave gear innovation is distinguished by a substantial power boost, opening up new prospects in robotics and automation in terms of performance, efficiency, and compact design. These strong points are particularly beneficial to applications that impose stringent requirements on precision while offering only limited installation space.
Precision gears for exoskeletons
The exhibits will also include an exoskeleton. Nabtesco contributed to the RISE project, undertaken by students of TU Berlin, by co-developing six actuators (composed of strain wave gears, an electric motor, and position sensors). The reproduction of a humanoid musculoskeletal system at the highest level presents an enormous challenge - and can only succeed with compact gears that have zero backlash.
Pan & Tilt system for mobile applications
The Pan & Tilt system demonstrates how precision, reliability and safety can be guaranteed for mobile applications as well. Two compact strain wave gear actuators with zero backlash ensure precise image stabilization and exact target detection in the moving object. Thanks to a controller-independent approach and a high level of modularity, the system offers users maximum flexibility as well.
Full scalability up to 70,000 Nm
The trade fair exhibits exemplify the innovative strength and engineering prowess of the experts from Düsseldorf and provide an important impetus for the market. The industry leader has always relied on continuous advancement, staying at the forefront of technology to successfully shape the future of drive technology. The foundation for this is formed by the extensive portfolio of precision gears. It spans from cycloidal gears to strain wave gears (Ovalo GmbH location in Limburg (Lahn)) and covers a torque range from 7 to 70,000 Nm. This full scalability is unique in the market and guarantees a seamless gear strategy, as well as optimally coordinated systems. The result: maximum performance, more efficient processes, perfect compatibility, and optimal cost-effectiveness.
Tomorrow’s ideas. Today’s solutions.
“Our precision gears are constantly guided by the present and future requirements of the automation industry and afford their users competitive advantages for the long term. Come see us at SPS and find out more about the possibilities for your application," declares Daniel Obladen, Director Sales & Marketing at Nabtesco Precision Europe GmbH, and adds: “Make sure not to miss our hands-on display Human vs. Gears, as it offers the perfect opportunity to become acquainted with our technology in a slightly different way. Seize this opportunity and find out up close and personal how good the performance of our gears truly is.”
